Ascentis Self Service Download - 8.0.2 Upgrade

*NOTE: Ascentis Self Service 8.0 requires ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET AJAX extensions. Please see the systems requirements page for additional requirements.

Step 1: Download Ascentis Self Service 8.0.2

Step 2: Backup images, documents and remove older versions

1. Begin the setup process by backing up the logos in the "images" folder in the Self Service installation directory and the folder housing the documents on Self Service.

2. Remove all older versions of the Ascentis HR Self Service and HROffice Self Service programs thru the Add/Remove Programs located within the Control Panel.

Step 3: Run the Setup program

1.  Ascentis Self Service will be installed by default. The HR Web Service is not installed by default. It is only required for Ascentis Payroll users. Ascentis Payroll users must enable the HR Web Service at installation.

2.  Below are the different scenarios users may choose (NOTE: In both scenarios below, please leave the installation folder of Ascentis Self Service set as the default value):

a.    If only Ascentis Self Service is enabled:

 i. Select the installation folder for the HR Web Service Configuration tool.

 ii. The Virtual Folder settings for Ascentis Self Service will be displayed now. Type in the Virtual Folder Name, and the installation folder of Ascentis Self Service program files. The Host Header Name is optional and can be left blank.

 b.    If Ascentis Self Service and HR Web Service are enabled:

 i. Select the installation folder for the HR Web Service Configuration tool.

 ii. Enter the Virtual Folder parameters for the HR Web Service. Virtual Folder name and Location are required. Host Header Name is optional.

 ii. The Virtual Folder settings for Ascentis Self Service will be displayed now. Type in the Virtual Folder Name, and the installation folder of Ascentis Self Service program files. The Host Header Name is optional and can be left blank.

 c. Click on the “Install” button.

 d. On the Employee Self Service Setup Screen, verify that Step one has the correct database server selected.  If it does not, click Choose Admin Login, and select the correct database server.  The default database is HROffice.

 e. In Step 2 enter in a new login name for the SQL account that will be create for the web service to access the database.  Type in the password twice and click "Next >".

 f. Click on the "Finish" button to exit Setup.

Step 4: For IIS 6.0 and above, you must recycle the Application Pool that Ascentis Self Service is running under. For IIS 5.x users, you must restart IIS.
